  • Week 2

This week I decided on my project. Hospital readmissions, specifically looking at predicting which patients are more likely to be readmitted. I’ll be using a diabetes dataset since it has a lot of real patient and outcome data to work with, which makes it a good fit for building and testing models. Right now I’m focusing on understanding the variables, cleaning the data, and figuring out which features might actually help predict readmission risk. My next steps are to start organizing the dataset, exploring patterns, and building some initial models to see what factors seem most important.

Week one was mainly a check-in and overview of the project-based format. We talked about expectations, brainstormed possible modeling projects, and discussed the kinds of real-world problems we might work on this semester. Nothing too intense yet, mostly just getting organized and ready to start. I’m brainstorming possible ideas for my class project.
